Sergey M. Dmitriev is Rector of R.E. Alekseev Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University (NNSTU), Doctor of Science (Engineering), Professor, Head of NNSTU Department ''Nuclear and Thermal Stations''.

Born in June 19, 1957 in Gorky (Russia). In 1980 he graduated from Gorky Polytechnic Institute with the degree in ''Nuclear Power Plants''. In 1988 he got the academic title of Associate Professor, in 1999 – the academic title of Professor. Prof. Dmitriev has the degree – Doctor of Science (Engineering).

In 2003 Prof. Dmitriev became Head of NNSTU department "Nuclear, Thermal Stations and Medical Engineering". In 2011 he became Rector of R.E. Alekseev NNSTU.

Prof. Dmitriev is the author of more than 320 scientific and methodological works including monographs, 16 author's certificates and patents. He is the author of 17 textbooks and manuals, his books are published in Russia and abroad, translated into English and Chinese.

Prof. Dmitriev is the President of the interregional Volga-Vyatka branch, Vice-President and the member of Academy of Engineering Sciences n.a. A.M. Prokhorov, Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, the chairman of Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Nuclear Society of Russia, the regional branch of ''Association of Engineering Education of Russia''.
