Vladimir A. Alekseev, Professor of the Department of Physics and Optical Engineering of Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering), Professor, Scientific Secretary of the University Senate.
Professor V. Alekseev was born in 1947 in Khabarovsk. In 1970 he graduated from the Faculty of Instrumentation Engineering of Izhevsk Mechanical Institute. In 1987 he defended PhD thesis and in 1994 – D.Sc. dissertation.
From 1970 till 1985 he worked in the Laboratory of Technical Cybernetics and Department of Computer Engineering in Izhevsk Mechanical Institute. From 1985 till 1995 – at Physical-Technical Institute of Ural Division of Russian Academy of Sciences (senior research fellow, Head of Department of Automation of Physical-Technical Measurements, Deputy Director for Science). From 1995 till 1997 Prof. V. Alekseev was the Head of Administration of Kizner region of the Udmurt Republic, where the plant for destruction of chemical weapons stockpiles was built. Since 2000 he has been working at Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University (Head of Department of Laser Systems, Vice-Rector for Scientific-Organizational Activities, Scientific Secretary of the University Senate, professor of the Department of Physics and Optical Engineering).
Research interests: environmental monitoring, smart sensors, information-measuring systems, instrumentation engineering.
He is the author of over 300 scientific papers, including 40 authorship certificates and patents, co-author of 5 monographs, he has been awarded with medals for the creation of objects for destruction of chemical weapons stockpiles in the Russian Federation, Doctor Honoris Causa of the Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University, Honored Scientist of the Udmurt Republic.
